Bmw 4.6is Outside mirrors

My driver side outside mirror won't stay locked out in the open position. Anyone know if they can be fixed or must they be replaced? Thanks

They can usually be fixed but it depends on the fault. Are you saying it folds back in electrically after you push the button to fold them out? Or are you saying it's just floppy and won't stay in the folded out position - electric folding not working?

Electrical position issues are often caused by the small position micro-switches that have either failed or popped out of place. Floppy mirrors are usually stripped or broken gears. Stripped or broken gears are harder to fix and it's sometimes quicker and easier to replace the assembly.
