Civdiv99 bids everyone farewell and good luck!
Thank you to everyone on the forum who has been a resource the past 11 years of my E53 ownership. This past Sunday I decided to let it go, and go a direction literally no one who knows me saw coming. A Subaru.
I got 9 grandkids now, and they're all local and I really needed the flexibility of a 3-row, and boy howdy an X7 wasn't in ye olde budget. As I get older and closer to retirement, and my shoulder is more and more annoyed with me when I have to crawl around and under things, and my work life continues non-stop, I found I was less patient with all the hassles that pop up. I decided to move on while it was in good running, riding, and driving status. Even with the pros on fun to drive and operationally sound, i traded it in with a check engine light (evap system) 2 warning lights (the English lighting computer I never could get my software to talk to after I installed it), a sunroof that went from opening to just "clicking," and 3 of 4 windows that operated randomly because the window regulators and clips would slip or stick. And yeah, it was like an old friend you know well, but sometimes it's just time. Even though I haven't been active on the forum lately, I'll miss the various discussions and debates I've had with many of you. |

well at least you gave yours a proper good bye, i hope. My X5 and I parted in a way that not that many people would like but, at the same time, it was kinda a blessing in disguise. However, I doubt that i will be inclined to purchase a new/CPO x5 anytime soon, given the horror stories that i still hear from time to time. Happy trails in the subaru

Civdiv, many thanks, you were inspiration for my trans overhaul now about 7 or 8 years back! As some know, I am still hanging on to my e53 and the engine is out for new seals and chain guides. The e53 is no longer a primary ride for my family but still loved.
Enjoy the rest of the journey!!

Enjoy the family civdiv. Just keep popping in and sharing your advice that you have gathered over the years of owning an e53.
