Rob Siegel (aka Hack Mechanic) recently posted an article in the BMW CCA Bimmerlife website describing the replacement of a window regulator and the rear wiper motor:

The window regulator is common stuff, but I can't believe the plastic brackets/anchors BMW used for the rear wiper motor. It's destined to break eventually. If I can figure out how to post a picture without finding a hosting site, I will post it...
I actually think the automatic hatch latching mechanism on the facelift E53's contributes to breaking the wiper motor anchors I struggle mightily to teach my family and anybody else to simply "place" the hatch, and not drop or slam it like most hatches require. When you drop or slam a face-lifted E53 hatch it sounds like the hatch and wiper motor take a lot of abuse.
Just a thought....please carry on with your day.
