possible drive line vibration / shimmy?

I have been having this vibration / shimmy at highway speeds (60-80mph). the weird thing is that it is intermittent. I feel the vibration underneath the drivers seat, and I feel it in the steering wheel. It will shake for approx 10-15 seconds at highway speeds, then drives smooth for 10-15 seconds, then the vibration comes back. throttle doesnt seem to affect the symptoms. It seems to be worse when the vehicle is cold, gets better as the day goes on. I am at 170k miles, but this has been going on for at least 10k miles. seems to be getting worse

things ive checked:

rebalanced wheels / tires. tried a different set of known good wheels tires. removed wheel spacers, no change

new front axles, wheel bearings, hubs, front suspension replaced within the last 10k miles. alignment done as well. does not pull and tracks straight.

rear suspension bushings having approx 20k miles on them

bilstein struts / shocks with 50k miles on them

underneath the vehicle nothing "obvious" stands out. the only thing ive noticed is the front guibo has slight cracks, no chunks missing. im leaning towards replacing the guibos and center support bearing to see if that'll fix this issue. should i replace the rear CV joint "while im in there"?

any help would be appreciated

Wife had same symptoms, turned out to be rear control arms. We replaced and fixed the problem. A few months ago i noticed shake while braking but it was very subtle thought just rotor out of square until one day got a horrible squeek while turning the wheel.

Climbed under the car with a can of spray lubricant pretty sure I'd find a dry ball joint. I was correct and also was one of the recently replaced control arms that was the guilty party.

Try to reproduce the shake in one of these ways:

1) slight curve at freeway speeds: Lumba2 had the problem on one curve on wife's drive to work only but every time.

2) gentle braking. Usually about 60 > 50 mph or 50 > 40 mph.

3) gentle lane change or even just moving back and forth in a lane: the key is the shimmy happens exactly when the wheels flip from being one side of center to the other. You might only get ONE pulse but it will happen almost every time

Any of those conditions cause a pulse in the steering it's almost certainly the lower control arms. (I know I have to replace four of them both of our cars have all those symptoms right now)

You think the control send would wear out that quickly? They have 20k miles on them. I’ll put it up on a lift and take a look again.

I'm saying that surprisingly wife's wore out "that fast". Just need the boot to fail so water gets in and washes out the grease and it's toast in a few months.
