2003 small coolant leak? & oil leak? heater valve
about every 500 miles i have to top off my coolant maybe quart or so to get red stick to come up ... ac much colder when i do this.. alot of water/condensation pours out on ground after i drive while with ac on and park it ... from middle of car not sure why this is. Oil leak slight leak prolly from valve cover gasket nothing to be concern with heater valve leaks at clamp but its oil... thought this was a coolant not oil..hose expands a bit i have hose but looks like a pain to change out otehr end is back of motor any ideas or thought on this Last edited by tmat1977; 05-29-2019 at 10:22 PM. |

Wife's X5 consumes about a pint a week of coolant no idea where it's going but nothing ever is wet. I'm going to get some UV dye to track the mutha down.
Oil from heater makes no sense other than if the valve cover is dripping/spraying into the heater valves first which that wouldn't be surprising. Wife's X5 seems to have identical leak we can hopefully solve these together. I've been wanting to solve her oil and coolant consumption problems for a year.

The coolant leak is small, so you’ll need UV dye to find it. Put in a bottle of dye, then after a few days check it at night with a UV light. I agree that the drip from the heater valve is probably just oil running down the hose. Clean the hose well and see if it goes away.

AC can generate on the order of quarts per hour. If the car is running in place and it's humid the puddle will spill out from under the car in minutes.
