Whistle X53 sub install

Hi Guys
Im looking to install a sub unit in my 3.0d sport.
it has the standard BMW sat nav screen with BM54 tuner in the rear.
I can pick up a BMW sub unit on the Bay of E for reasonable money, just need to know if it would be plug and play or am I wasting my time!!!
Cheers
Paul

Wasting your time. It's NOT at all plug and play but more importantly they are a HUGE waste of time. Horrible sound quality once volume gets turned up a bit and you won't hear it in front seats.
Buy a used amp and sub in sub box.

I am currently modifying a factory.sub box to accept a shallow mount 10" MB Quart sub, but even that is a serious undertaking.
I should have just bought one of those carpeted sub boxes that were sold from Europe (like a JL Stealth box) years ago since they were cheap and available back then. None to be found on eBay anymore

Crutchfield still has the JL Audio custom fit subs available. Kinda pricey, but worth it if you want a stealth install and want to retain full use of your rear cargo space! I had one in the past and loved it. Just ordered one for the new (to me) 4.6is!

Like this:

Seller does only ship to EU unfortunately, maybe if you contact him he will make an exception.

I have made my own sub enclosure on the left side of the trunk with a 10'' JBL Sub. I love it, one of the best mods I have done together with the Android headunit.

Hopefully the bulbs last long because getting that sub out of there will be a challenge.

SpookX5, yes exactly like that sub box.
The seller used to ship to Canada all the time but I feel with Covid, it's not worth it as shipments are 6-8 weeks delayed.
Good price, now that I realize how much time I've been fooling around with cutting up the factory ABS plastic one to accept a single 10" shallow mount sub.

This listing can ship to the US, looks like the same box. I wanted to get this also but i wound up buying a used BSW sub.

Wonderful, thanks!
I will admit, last night I was able to make a great template for front of factory sub box where I have to mount MDF and cut 230mm hole. I hope to be done this experiment in next 2 weeks (going camping for a week now) and sub is not delivered yet.
