No. Were I in the market for another X5, I'd pay $12k. But, you might have to hold on to it for awhile to find someone like-minded. Some think the 4.6 is worth more than a 4.8, and some think it's the other way round. There are lots of 4.8's in your price range, though most won't have your maintenance history/records to back them up.

Take some good quality pictures that show how good the paint and interior are and you should be set. Also include a pic or two of maintenance records along with the manuals. Always gives me a warm and fuzzy when buying a car to get a binder along with it. You'll get your price, or very close to it. Good luck with the sale. Wish I was in the market for one. It would be a hard decision between yours and TMV's. But the imola would probably win out.

+1 on good pics... being a professional photographer, I can speak first hand about how good pics WILL sell a vehicle at top dollar. been there.. done that!

Thanks guys, much appreciated. I knew I wasn’t crazy, it’s just that every time I see one pop up they’re always in the $7-8k range or even lower. Granted, they’ve all been pretty rough with higher mileage and no service records. I personally have near those figures into the vehicle just on maintenance, and it’s not that I’m looking to make my $ back, I just know it will be nearly impossible to find another 4.6is like this and feel $12k is very fair.
My 2nd question is: where would I reach the biggest market for these? I feel like everyone on this forum already has one (or a 4.8is), Craigslist brings out way too many tire kickers, I don’t think BaT is the place, guess that leaves eBay?

Last time I was stateside (2011-12ish) I was always picking up autotrader and one called thrifty nickle (midwest), not sure but there used to be one like shotgun news but for autos and was national monthly (can't remember name) but it was same page size as shotgun news.

You could try Cargurus and Autotrader. Those are the 2 I frequent... though I do peruse CL on an almost daily basis, much to the chagrin of my wife. That said, Ebay is pretty inexpensive to list so might not be a bad option.

If I was independently wealthy, you'd have a PM already. You'll get your price. You could try the other BMW forums that are less X centric. Someone there might look for a change from a 3/5 series. Again, good pictures and service records will go a long way. Especially to enthusiasts.

$12k is not a bad price for what you have for an enthusiast unfortunately most other people are not. I’d list it on every platform from eBay, Craigslist to Facebook marketplace. I sold mine two years ago with 79k miles and all records since new for $8500 so I’m not sure how the market has changed since. Only reason I sold it because it stranded me twice in few months and I haven’t experienced that from a car since I left Eastern Europe many years ago.

There is a guy selling his X5 4.6is Dinan S3 for $13,500 in California. I am fairly certain this was previously listed for sale in Colorado and was asking $15,000-$18,000 a couple of years ago.

He says it has a spare Dinan Supercharger and it is a S3 which is different than yours but it has 162,000 miles on it. I don't see the $12,000 for yours as out of line.

I missed a clean well-maintained 2003 Imola Red 4.6is in Georgia this year so...
