Noise...
WTH? Anyone heard that before? It's from somewhere near the transmission and drivers side running board... ![]() Sent from my SM-A730F using Tapatalk

It sounds like metal contracting as it cools down slipping past a shear joint. I don’t know what it might be but my first thought was the skid plate. If you have ever removed it and the bolts reused. (Not going to approach that argument
). Just a thought.

I honestly hadn't thought about the plate.I agree, I'm not touching that bolt issue with a 2' torque wrench... Sent from my SM-A730F using Tapatalk

I don't think it's the bolts in the plate and if it's the transfer case motor then would it be some sort of stray voltage from the car going to sleep?
![]() When it happens it's about 15 minutes after shutdown and that clink sound happens about 4-6 times (very small pebble in aluminum pipe sound) Sent from my SM-A730F using Tapatalk

I've heard many cars make the "tink tink tink" sound at cool down. Usually a heat shield plate sliding through it's bolt holes.
Your best bet to find it is to drive the car to hot then park it and lay down under the car and wait. Use a car stethoscope to help Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

It's not the plate or the bolts cooling it's...
1. Thin walled aluminum sound.(plate on mine is like a manhole cover in weight) ![]() 2. Sounds nothing like metal contracting. 3. Seems to be about midline of the drivers door. 4. Sounds like a small sharp edged pebble rolling down an aluminum ladder tube. Is there anything that may depressurize or release when the car goes to sleep? Transfer case motor? Valve body? Something under the body plate (fuel line, secret ninja brake part? I also run over the under body scanner daily and there's nothing with fresh marks, scratches, bomb on the car... ![]() ![]() I've even tried listening after raising car to highest position and shutting it off... will try and catch it on video or audio file. Are you LHD? Pull open the plastic panel under the left side and check on the brake lines that go through there. There are some long sections they could be squeaking through the holders as they cool.
