e53 3.0d - Small Vibrations and engine sound changing

Hello guys ,

Today i noticed a small vibration that happens only on very low rpm or when stopped. You can feel the vibration for a second ifvyou are inside the car.

Then i noticed that when the vibration happens for a second the engine sound also changes (looks like it run rough).

Video :

Any idea what might be the issue ? anyone had any similiar issue like this ?

Possible Causes :

EGR Valve ?
Bad Fuel Filter ?

Im also worried about the torque converter but i don’t notice any issue with it . All the gears are ok

Hi, thanks for your reply.

A/C Off.
Happens on both D and P / N.
Same thing when car is hot or cold.

Possibly faulty injector i think

Ps: the video has only the sound

Clip gives playback error but no matter....

One way to diagnose injectors issues is to check the Selective Mass Adjustment via INPA. Should look something like this (E70 but very similar engine)...

And that sorted your vibration? What did the mass adjustment look like in INPA before and after?

Thanks...

Injector #6 was showing 1,1 , 1.2 at “P” when we changed to “D” it went up to 3.2 , 3.4
Now the burned diesel smell in the cabin is gone too!

However i think even injector #4 is throwing more then it should , will try to connect it today to inpa and send a screenshot.
