Wheel Refinishing Project

I am in the midst of refinishing my wheels. One at a time. This is my daily driver after all. Pulled the spare tire and that wheel had never been on the car since they day it was built. Brand new. That's one I won't have to refinish. I've refinished two so far and this is the third. This has been a learning experience and I wasn't that happy with the first two. This one came out pretty well I think. I'll probably redo the first two since I seem to have the process down now. It's not perfect, but it looks better than what I started with. I used the silver paint from ECS and the metal filler from them as well. For the clear I'm using the USC Spray Max 2K high gloss. I like it's durability and how it flows.

This was what I started with:

And this is how it turned out. I painted the barrel too. It's not perfect, but it's much better than what i started with I think.

The first one, probably 24 hours, because I effed it up and had to redo it a couple of times. Like I said, this has been a learning experience. the second one, probably 16 hours. I made a mistake on that one and had to cut and buff it. This last one, probably 10 to 12. I expect the next one will be about the same.

Yep, figured quite a bit of time to get that kind of result. Refinishing wheels sucks. I've done it once (properly) on a set of 16's and it took a week. I've since resolved to pay a wheel refinishing company anytime I need to refresh a set.

Good result though. They look great.

Λ This. I just can't justify the time and effort. Luckily the place here in Charlotte specializes in BMW wheels.
