Off Road Tire Sizes?

Hey All,

It's time for new tires soon and I'd like to get some good off road tires but I'm concerned that since I have Style 63 20" wheels that I will be limited with what I can fit on there without having to lift it or having clearance issues.

This is the look I am going for:

Is it possible to achieve something similar to these tires with 20 inch wheels?
(I don't daily this car)

Possibly, but get ready to pony up $ for 20". You'll also might have issues with rub on 20" with no lift and wanting some more meat.

You'd be better off doing what's in that picture and get some 17" steelies with a little more aggressive tire. Ditch the 63s if you want a offroad tire just my .02

Off-road tires are by design high profile (tall sidewalls).

20" rim are designed for low profile tires (nominally).

I'd agree that the advice offered above is the best idea - get some inexpensive 17" steel rims. A full set of 17" steel rims with off-road tires will likely cost less than most full sets of 20" tires too.

Off Road Tire Sizes?

I'm very happy with 255/55/18 for my off road adventures. Wide enough to not sink in soft sand, tall enough to drive over gopher holes at 30-40. I've gotten to 37° down and 12° roll I love this car for off road.

I use 235-65-18 for winter traction but didn't change to those last winter kept the 255s which did a fine job going cross-country in 6" of fresh slushy snow even towing a stuck car out of a ditch (I drove down into the ditch to pull the car farther into the field to turn him around to drive back out the way he came in: I drove in and out three times to make a packed down snow pack road for him)

Thanks, all. Sounds like i'll be shopping for new wheels as well. Any idea what size the wheels in the OP are? Look like 15s or 16s?

The tires are large they look like a tall ratio 16 or even 17. A normal ratio 17 doesnt come close to filling the wheel well

Looks like these from Discount Tire:

Rims look like 17" to me. Like someone else said, 17" with a tall ratio tire.

Should be 17's at least maybe a 16. Then you should have to worry about hitting a caliper. Make sure you get the correct backspacing too.
