Thank you for the time. I use same tools as BMW and a press. The photo you looking at is to the side that does not leak (driver side) and the side leaking it has a small 2” shaft with round very small seal that fit on the shaft and that is the one goes inside the pan and it’s leaking. I took it out and looked at it and it’s still holding and has no cracks.
Now having everything down and clean and don’t see any cracks around the pan.any idea before ordering new pan? God bless

Thank you for the reply
I only use OEM gaskets, sensors and seals as well as the bolts that one time use.
I am leaning on changing the pan now thinking about it the other side of the pan does not leak and that the side that has long shaft and it’s now one of two either the pan somehow got damage or the bolts holding the front diff to the pan got loose. Being old pan and the type of metal that may be the case.

Are the new shafts GKN. If not the seals may not seal against an out of spec smaller shaft.

Anyone know if the assembly ring moving part or stationary? That seal may be the cause of the leak and not the pan...
When the car cold no leak when it’s hot it leak then the heat force the oil to pass but can’t say if it’s front back or under.

Just looked at it now the leak not from the shaft side it’s coming from the front diff small built in shaft and go inside the oil pan it does not contact the shaft if you look at the last photo posted the small shaft where the oil comes from and the size of the front shaft does not effect this location.
The more I think about it the more I believe it’s the front diff ring not seated correctly...what you think

O.P.,

You still did not answer a key question.
Did you ever replace the OFH Gasket?

Sorry u missed that... I stated that all been changed “OEM” from the dealer also the sleeve over the diff from the dealer.
The second time I took all the old ones to the dealer to see if I missed something and they were very helpful inspecting them and comparing them to new ones. I am going now to them again taking them back for a look.

Did you drop the front diff? It's a lot of work to drop the front diff.
That seal is an o-ring. I thought we were talking about the seal for the driveshaft into the diff.

If it is leaking when it is HOT i would check the vent tube for the front diff to make sure it is not plugged up. There's a reason for that vent tube.

The front diff need to be out to change the oil gasket. The front shaft driver-side has a gasket and between the front diff and the oil pan metal sleeve and o ring the leak comes from or around the metal sleeve.
The service tech at the dealer recommended to use new bolts and torque 60 and not 55 if I am not going to replace the pan. His thought that the heat and the movement may made the sleeves not seal to the oil pan good. In the event that did not help he stated that I need to look into replacing the pan. He said the sleeves looks good and no scratches on it but he said to replace the o ring and the sleeves anyway.
