how to tell if front seat belt latch end gas charge has fired

my seat belts work, but I don't know how to tell if the front belt latches with the gas charge have fired or not from an earlier accident. Does anyone know how much they are permanently shortened when they fire? I was looking at a 2005 today at the upullit yard, and the ones in it seem quite a bit higher than mine. The top of the driver side latch is about even with the emergency brake boot, and mine are at least 2 inches shorter than that right now.

If they have "fired" and have not been replaced or unplugged...then your SRS warning light will still be illuminated.



If you have diagnostic equipment...it will also allow communication with SRS to see if there's anything not "reporting".
