Intermittent false start.

2003 4.6is with 60K miles.
About every 20th start or so, I’m getting absolutely nothing
when I turn key to start.if I reset key, starts every time.
3 year old interstate battery, newer alternator, Voltage shows
14.3 running and 12.6 static.
I have also replaced the key tumbler.

Most of the time the X sits in the garage. I rarely drive it.
Sometimes I need to charge up battery.
When I do take it out, I will drive it for a few weeks.
2 to 300 miles.

Not sure why I’m getting a false start randomly.

Perhaps when you replaced the key tumbler you didn't put it back in right.

I would guess the ignition electric switch is causing intermittent problems more than the tumbler. The tumbler turns or it doesn't.

wpoll will become famous soon enough
Did you actually replace the key tumbler - the section that is matched to the machined groove in the key? Or did you did you replace the electrical switch section of the ignition switch assembly?

The tumbler is most likely NOT an issue. I would GUESS at the EWS system flaking out. Or the EWS antenna / charging ring...
