Need Opinion of Value

Hi All, Looking for opinions on value of an X that just came into my sphere...2005, 4.4, very good condition, clean carfax, known 3 previous owners, 78k miles. Most maintenance seems up to date. Needs a passenger side outside door handle. I haven't laid eyes on it yet, just some pictures. The audio seems to have been modified with something bizarre. Can't tell from pictures. They will take $6500. KBB has it at less than $5K, carfax retail value has it at $8K. Quite a disparity. I thought the price was a little high. I have my opinions but curious what the masses here think.

Can't comment directly on price. I am more familiar with 6 cyl's, and even they have had sale prices all over the map in the last 18 months or so.

-I believe an X5 from a dry state is worth more than a state that uses salt/brine on roads
-I don't believe people are lining up to buy 8 cyl's unless they are 4.8's in good condition.

I have a 2005 4.8is with just shy of 170k miles that I would be happy to get $5k for, but in addition to the cash you’d have to sell my wife on why you’re worthy of the vehicle she loves (some sort of heart-wrenching story, ideally involving a dog). Honestly if it grenaded she’d probably insist on fixing it.
