WTB: Looking for mounting brackets for my OEM roof rack

Hey,

When I bought my E53 X5, an OEM roof rack was in the trunk, with bicycle attachments, etc. I've tried searching online countless times, and I see there are a few variations of OEM roof racks for the E53, so please see the photo attached for the model I have.

Now, my problem is, the PO did not provide the actual mounting brackets to attach the main crossbars to the roof rails. Are there available? I can't seem to find them anywhere.

(photos are not mine, nor is it my car, they are simply to show the exact rack I have)

The cross rails seem to this OEM set...

I tried looking for the clamps - not much about. You might get lucky at a wreckers...

TBH, they don't look like the most aerodynamics set up - you might be better off just buying a newer set of rails.

I appreciate you looking into it! Unfortunately I haven’t seen many E53’s being parted out with this specific roof rack. And even so, it’d probably be a stretch for them to part with just the clamps/brackets.
Very strange they don’t sell them separately anywhere......??
Buying a new rack for $175-$200+ just doesn’t make sense for me, as I don’t want one that bad. I just happened to have it, having had it come with the car, and wanted to try them out and see if I like the “look”.
It would be a damn shame to conclude that the rack and attachments I do have are basically scrap metal without these clamps/brackets to attach to the actual roof rails.

...anyone?

I use a set of Rolla cross bars when I had my X5. I was able to fit a Thule roof box along with Thule bike rack on the bars. I was also able to install Yakima bike rack as long as you have the correct adapter for an oval cross bar. Sold the X5 but I still have the Rolla Bars including the security tool to prevent someone from stealing the bars. $100.00 plus shipping.

Thule makes a lot of BMW's OE roof rack stuff. Try looking on there for the parts you need.

I went with the Rola cross bars as well. Much thinner than factory cross bars but still generate some wind noise at speed so they stay off until I need to have them on for my SUP boards.

Went through my stash of old X5 parts and found my old BMW cross bars. If you need just the clamps I got all 4. Don't have the security tool for them but I may have to search around for it. The security tool is still available from various supplier such as ECStuning.

$100.00 shipped for all 4 clamps.

Hey thanks that’s really nice of you to offer. Unfortunately the pricing is way off, as there are multiple sets on eBay and elsewhere for the complete roof rack with the bars, mounting clamps, and security tool for around $100 +/- and I haven’t bought any of them because I’m not looking to spend nearly that much just to “see” if I even like how the rack looks.
Thanks anyway.
