Anyone know what these fasteners are called/where to buy them?
See photo,
The fasteners that slide onto the car that the twists caps *circled in red* lock into? 2 of them are missing on my X5 and my entire cowl vent is only mounted by 2/4 of the twists, I’d like to replace the missing 2 and have my cowl vent secured as originally designed.

You can look them up on realoem.com and order them from ECSTuning or one of the other sponsors. You might have to troll around a bit to find them but I'd guess they are in the bodywork section. Very useful site for many things. 51711947419 They were in the heating and cooling section

Second that. I used butyl adhesive tape (same as on vapour barriers).

And good idea to who suggested putting them in with a dap of silicone. They were missing when I purchased the car unfortunately.

That doesn't look like the correct part. I checked the part for an e46 and it only crosses over to the X3.
Tomorrow I can see if the actual part from my e46 fits the X5.

I've installed these parts to my own E53 just a while ago. They are correct.

BUT... if Dinan4.6is is talking about the mating cam, the part on the cowl itself (and I think this is the case) then you're SOL looking for them as an E53 part - they are not available without buying the entire cowl (or scuttle as it is sometimes called - BMW call it the micro-filter cover). ![]() However, as has been suggested, a similar part is used on other vehicles, namily the E83 X3... ![]() https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...h/64318385244/ Not 100% sure they fit/work but it's the closest we've found... See this thread... https://xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-forums/...-fastners.html *edit* - re-reading the original post, I now think Dinan4.6is IS asking about the snap-in nuts....
