n62 Vanos replacement
I have done the reseal kit on the Vanos from the M62tu motor I don’t know if they have the same kit for the N 62 but if they do I would do that it’s not difficult it’s totally worth it. Especially considering there’s twice as many.
The kit came with a spare Teflon seal for a factor of a learning curve and that came in very handy but during my learning curve I also figured out a way making it about 10 times easier to put in the seal with a trick that they don’t teach you

VDO for me, but over here that's the only choice and I really enjoy their price of 260 USD in Saudi

Like me some VDOs for sure!FCP Euro sells Holstein, so I would say it can't b all bad, I've had great success with everything I've ordered and it comes with a lifetime warranty. |

Hi, I bought the M62TU vanos solenoids off rockauto $33.79 USD each, they work just fine and i've used them for about 90 days now without any issue.
ULTRA-POWER 2T1078 However I did have to apply some loctite GS2 on the sealing face of the flange gasket due to some weeping before I corrected the leak issue. I decided to re-use the old flange gasket instead of getting one new. And I needed to get the special vanos socket off ebay, it was not expensive.

@ Andrew - I've replaced the seals already but although I don't have a CEL, I feel like the low end torque just isn't there like it was when I first picked her up.. so I feel its about time to swap them out for new ones...
@ EOD and PurpleFade - tks for the feedback. I am on the fence between the VDO's and Holstein and I plan on getting these from FCP, so I am sure they wouldn't vendor crap.. @ Aureliusmax - I honestly thought about that route, but internally feel a bit uneasy with it.. We have a saying in the latino culture that translates to "what is cheap, ends up costing more"...

All, I've got 250k miles on the odometer, car runs fine and is well sorted. However, should I be considering a VANOS rebuild? Just did coil packs and a tune up so good timing (no pun intended). How often is this service recommended?

@ EODguy - So far the sites that I frequent do not show VDO
@ BigBody - you know it.. everything relates to a feel... suspension, power etc..
