I use essentially this method. It's quick/easy and holds up for a long time. I'm going to be doing some painting on my cars soon, so plan to do my X5 lights with 2K clear at that time.

Frankly, the end result depends on how severely damaged the headlight housings are and in most cases an off the shelf kit will limit your results; the sanding discs provided tend to not be enough and clog rapidly. The more time you put into the restoration as well as the additional sanding steps you do will give better clarity.
I find the kits to be insufficient for lenses with modest hazing. Also, pulling the light assemblies off the truck and doing all of the sanding and polishing on a bench will give more control and there is no need to worry about sanding through your masking job and through the paint if you were to do this on the vehicle. Just my opinion though; do what you think is appropriate. Last edited by X5M-ISH; 06-06-2019 at 05:05 PM. |

Mine were very bad Oldmactech. I did mine with the 3M kit over 2 years ago and they still look brand new. I recommend the 3M kit. It will take a couple of hours but when you are done, the results are amazing.

$25 at Walmart they did an amazing job on my wife's. They were as if sandblasted. White like a milk bottle. They looked almost new when done.

I used a combination of a Rain-X kit, sandpaper of various grades and Maguiar's polishes. Went from this: -
To this: -

I really wish we had the clear corner option over here. So sexy!

I'll bet - I'm not a fan of the "fried egg" on each corner!
