It's funny in a way because if you're using a Foxwell you can do it with the clockwork test but that was on mine with nav, etc

I'm debating on moving my aftermarket sub box from trunk to side compartment but worry the sound just won't be as good as external box since the compartment box needs a specialized shallow sub.

Hey Clockwork,

I got side-swipped by my (wifes) bathroom project and haven't yet finished it, but what I did was make a cardboard "mold" (using that thin but stiff type of cardboard that you find on the back of a yellow note pad, scissors and tape) of the entire back cavity of the truck and then wrapped the inside of the mold with plastic wrap, laid in fiberglass matte and used resin and hardener to set it up - so far so good.

I am going to finish it by tracing the face of it on 1/4" ply wood (doubling up just the area where the sub will screw in) and cutting that just inside the line so that it will fit inside the lip of the fiberglass enclosure. Tap some screw hole through the enclosure into the plywood, add a bead of construction adhesive for good measure and seal the enclosure to the face board and wrap the entire enclosure in a second layer of fiberglass for structural integrity.

I figured that by using fiberglass and keeping it thin and rigid that I could use more of the air space and take up more of the nooks and crannies vs using 1/2" or 3/4" particle board like most do.

I ordered everything online from home depot and had it dropped off on my front porch for an additional $8.99 delivery fee - it was awesome!

Edit: - Missed the part about cost - best part, it was SUPER cheap!
I spent like $15 on the resin, $12 on the fiberglass cloth and matte (I used cloth to mold the inside initially, it's softer, and will go back over the whole box with the matte once the face is attached), and the plywood was like $9 if I recall right.

It required:
4'x4' piece of thin, rigid cardboard
scissors
painters tape (I used pt because it doesn't stick down until you press it good which gave me an opportunity to adjust the pieces)
1 - $14 quart resin w\hardener included
1 - $6 package of fiberglass cloth
1 - $6 package of fiberglass matte
2 - cheap paint brushes
rubber gloves
1 - $9 4'x4' piece of 1/4" plywood
1 - $2 10oz tube of liquid nail
caulk gun
jig saw

And my wife having an absolute fit about the smell of the fiberglass on me when I came in from the garage...

I'll keep you posted but from what I'm seeing now I am going to probably have about 6" of internal depth, I really think I'll be able to use a decent sub - I'll measure it for sure as soon as I have the face on it.

Simple - with the ignition off (KL 0), hold the very first and last MID buttons down and turn the ignition to the first or second position (KL R or KL 15).

The MID info display will come up. You have about 3-4 seconds to do something, after that it drops back to the normal mode. Pressing one of the buttons to select a test will run that test, then return to the info mode. If you don't select another test within 3-4 seconds, it goes back to normal.

*edit* - also worth noting - in the MID Self test, that first option for "Audio". toggles between "A-KL- 30" to "A-KL- R", setting at which ignition mode the audio system will function. Bet that's caught a few folk out...

Not sure what you are explaining here but it's scaring me.
And the KL-0, KL-15 and KL-R... What are these codes for?

What cheered me up this week was seeing Alaska, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Iowa, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, West Virginia and Wisconsin starting to lift the stay at home restrictions and opening up back up for business.

That’s 20 states. California is soon to follow, I think. Have to wait at lest 2 more weeks. I have my n95 mask for work and hand size sanitizers at the ready. Thinking about bringing half the employees back to work first.

I’ll be the only constant presence at work.

Gotta make sure I stay healthy. No way of getting a test if you are healthy, so no way of knowing whether I carry the virus.

Scary situation no matter how you prepare. Loop hole for the virus to stay present.

Nothing scary - it simply changes at which ignition switch position the audio system is active. What I meant was I reckon a few folk may have changed the setting accidentally then wondered why the audio (radio) behaves differently.

We are still shut down until May 8 here but Gov. Cooper did finally deem race shops essential starting tomorrow. Looks like things are turning around.
