Rebuild 4.8
Anyone that had rebuild an N62 have you been able to find the piston rings and bearings other than OE? they want about $95 PER on the piston rings and a absurd amount for the bearings.

Hey Emory, I've not done the 4.8 but I have been elbow deep in a 4.4, try ECS Tuning or EBay, ECS is about $35 ish bucks a rod and eBay is anywhere from little over $100 ish (for 8) to whatever you want to spend. (I'm assuming rod bearings?)

Right I purchased ny parts from them. But just not the bearings or the piston rings because it would ammount a big chunk of $$. I am actually looking for OEM rings and bearings. (Mahler) but i can only find BMW brand. I have seen the ones in Ebay but i don't know if they will hold up.

I hear you, never know if they’re a knock off or not on eBay.... That said, I love the Mahler, but have always had good luck with Clevite and TRW also and let me tell you, I’ve put those suckers in a bunch of well built 5.0 Mustangs and dogged them to death and they’ve held up. My only other thought is if you can cross reference the Mahler parts and call Clevite directly, it’s hard to believe with everything out there they wouldn’t have something - but I guess when you’re measuring in millimeters everything matters.
