Any additional thoughts are much appreciated.
So I played around in both INPA and ISTA for a while today and here are the results.
1) the front left inlet valve definitely is the culprit - both diagnostic programs corroborate.
2) The ISTA test plan actually recommends replaying the hydraulic pump in addition to the module (of course the dealer software says to do that)
When my symptoms initially appeared, it all happened at once (no speedometer, no cruise control, Trifecta lights). Post module repair my speedometer and cruise control both work. It is worth noting that the trifecta is sometimes off when I first start the car, but after roughly 20 yards of movement or letting it idle for a few minutes, the lights come back on. Before they do though, I am able to toggle the DSC button on and off.
Finally - hopefully this is the needle in the haystack clue as to what the problem really is - after reinstalling the rebuilt module, I noticed that even with the car off (ignition 2nd position), I can absolutely hear a clicking coming from the ABS module - something is causing one of the valves (probably the front left inlet) to operate even with no input. Nearly always as soon as I year that slight crackle / pop from the ABS module / hydraulic unit the Trifecta lights return.
My thought process is that based on the symptoms appearing at once and post installation of the rebuilt module, I can hear an unprompted valve operate - combined with the fact that I can manually activate the hydraulic ABS pump via INPA, the odds point to the module being faulty right? Is there any realistic chance the hydraulic pump is to blame?
Any thoughts are appreciated.
