Remanufactured Calipers

I had my right, rear outside brake pad wear down to metal recently and the inside pad still had about 1/4 inch of pad left. We remembered a few months ago when I could hear brakes rubbing when rolling slowly, which would stop when brakes were applied. The problem seemed to go away, so I forgot about it until I suddenly had metal on metal when braking.

My indy mechanic said I should replace rear calipers, as it is probably 'sticking intermittently'. I don't plan to have this car very much longer - looking to trade in for a 2011-2015 as soon as the right one comes along that checks all my boxes.

So, OEM calipers are $332 each. There aren't a lot of other brands offered, but ECS has some remanufactured ones that show as Centric brand, however, when you click on the item, it shows the brand Nu Geon in the details. I'm familiar with Centric and have been happy with the Centric rotors and pads I bought 5 years ago, but know nothing about Nu Geon. These are $164 minus $85 core charge:

Or, Rock Auto has Cardone remanufactured for $77 minus $42 core.

What would you do?

Look for the ATE rebuild kit, about $8-$10/caliper.

I wrote rebuild procedure in bimmerfest E39 forum...

I have neither the time nor the inclination to rebuild them myself. I asked my indy about rebuild kit and he doesn't want to mess with that either.

Takes longer to bleed the brakes than rebuild a caliper - and you'll have to do that either way.

Chances are it was just a sticky guide pin anyway.... and they are even easier to change.

BTW, DON'T use grease on these things....

Well, I went with the Cardones and they look decent to me, but there are some slight differences between left & right - especially on the inside view. Is this normal?:

Could be two different manufacturers of the part.
Could be a small upgrade to shape 8f made by same manufacturer.
Should not affect any use.
