Mirror RH not folding

Both my mirrors had the syndrom where they fold in and immediately pop-out. I opened both of them and of one micro-switches one clip (which actuates the switch) had fallen off and the RH one was mashed.

I put the LH clip back on and the RH clip I straightened up and re-installed. So now the micro-switches work as designed but in the process of working on this, the RH one stopped folding when I press the button.

If I push the RH one in manually (as if it had been accidentally bumped in) and then press the button, it unfolds and positions itself correctly. The mirror position sets correctly with the memory button. So all is well except for the RH mirror refuses to fold if I press the button despite the switches being positioned correctly.

Is there a code I have to clear or what logic might be impeding this? Is there an electronic control module for this? I am stumped. Disconnect the battery and see whether it re-sets?
