no crank troubleshoot

newbie. plugged in my snap on scanner, when I turn the key to start, the scanner shuts off. Engine will not crank, dash lights and indicator lights come on. Just won't crank over. Need help trouble shooting. had ews programmed and dme and new key.

History and some more info on the vehicle would be nice. If your scanner is dropping out you probably have something going on with the vehicle battery and/or connections. Get the multimeter out! Or even test light if you know how to use one.
