Gulf version glass?

I've asked several of the guys on here to verify their windows ad so far nobody has door glass like this. Can some European spec and Oceania owners check theirs?

My glass is 2 pieces with a noticeably thicker laminate that does seem to cut UV a lot more than normal. Just being curious about this...

Thanks in advance

What do you see as options when you decode your VIN?

There was a special windshield available in several BMWs - quite rare in E39 - that was called "climate comfort". Somebody in Texas found one, installed it, and it was noticeably cooler inside the vehicle on a 110 degree (F) day...

Maybe your hot climate version has climate comfort glass throughout.

Decode your VIN and see if you have these options.

L822A Länderausführung Golf GULF VERSION
S823A Heissland-Ausführung Hot-climate version

Here is a link I found discussing your cars built in Spartanburg, SC for middle east destinations.

AFAIK option S823 Hot climate version has nothing to do with glazing. Those thicker side windows are option S352 Insulating double glazing. Option S358 is climate comfort windscreen which has additional heat (IR) reflecting coating. Visually that looks like purple haze when you look from the outside.

Seconded.

I wonder if S352 changes the window regulator or tracks as well. Just thinking out loud as to possibility of retrofit. I bet it makes a difference to cabin quietness at EOD's usual travel velocity of mach 2.

The window lifters are the same. Guide/seal (Nr.2) obviously different.
