Diesel fuel filter change

Just about to attempt to replace my diesel fuel filter myself, but first thought I'd check if anyone can tell me how difficult this task might be - worried I'll create an air-loc or end up needing to drain the system!

Any advice appreciated - can't find anything in how-To or any relevant posts.

Found out it's a very easy job. Took it to my local dealer who said it was easy diy job, just unbolt old filter, disconect electrical conector and swap in new one. Turn on ignition for 1 minute without starting to let filter "self prime" and away you go.

I'm about to do a filter change. Just to confirm - its the under bonnet version (E53 d 2002 pre-facelift); disconnect - new one in - reconnect - prime by turning ignition on for a minute. Anything else I need to be aware of?

Yes, it's a fairly easy job. When you turn ignition to pos. 2 electric fuel pumps activate and the system is self bleeding. The pumps run for 1 minute if engine is not started. So after 1 minute turn ignition off and back to pos. 2 to activate a new round just in case before you actually start the engine.
