Strut mounting bolts?
I am replacing the struts this summer and want to replace the nuts and bolts as well, heavily rusted. Thx in advance. ![]() Sent from my SM-G950W using Xoutpost.com mobile app

I hope they are the same size since I never keep track the 6 times I've removed and replaced them ;-) I just drop on the ground and pick them up by chance.
Realoem should show the spec when you click on the part and if different sizes would have different part number.

The strut tower uses two of those bolts and nuts they are pretty big like 16 mm bolt. The hex is about 22 mm maybe

![]() If you tap on the parts they highlight. ![]() Once you tap it will highlight in the list and show quantity (4). (confirming that they are the same size and 16-1.5x65).

Having just replaced struts, I can confirm that they are the same size top/bottom.
Mine were heavily rusted as well, but I opted to only replace the self-locking nuts. The bolt is so big that some light cleaning with a rust pad had it looking pretty fresh.

Thanks, I will spray my bolts down with penetrating oil and have a better look at the bolts. We get tons of salt up here. The lock nuts I will definitely replace.

I live in the rust belt and never had a problem removing or reusing the part. Even the threads at the end if the bolt never caused any issues.
I'm pretty sure that like most bolts BMW official stance is replace. With 20,000# clamping force and 50,000# shear force per bolt they are in in for the long haul.
