Rearview Camera

I just purchased a 10.25 Android locally from a guy who removed it after his e38 was totaled. Anyone have a recommendation of a decent backup camera they are using in their e53?

Will that fit in the e53?? The Android units I have bought for my 2 E53's had a curved bezel to fit the dash of the E53..

A bunch of us are using a cheap Amazon camera. It works, but the image clarity is garbage. But, admittedly it gets the job done for ~$20.

Hey CW. Do you have a link? Is it a license plate light camera?

Sure.

The below pictures are Overboost's, but my install looks identical.

I am using a Boyo camera I got from Crutchfield and I’m quite satisfied with it. It came with a bunch of hardware for different mounting options. I mounted it to the underside of the hatch spoiler, which while giving a great FOV, isn’t an ideal perspective for the backup guide-lines. I was running lines for a Sirius antenna thru the spoiler anyway and had it all taken apart (read: I got lazy). Running it to the hatch lip like the pic above best location for sure.

Not sure about other makes, but the Boyo has a guideline functionality that can be bypassed if your receiver has the same. Resolution is great and it works seamlessly with my receiver. I put the relay trigger in the left cubby and tapped off a fuse with a fuse-tap.

I went with this one. The toughest part about the install was fishing the feed wire thru the liftgate and rubber snorkel to the headliner. Picture quality is great.

I hope so as the unit says e53 on the bottom of it. This will be a more than plug and play install since the PO had an aftermarket kenwood unit installed at some point. They bypassed / hacked up the DSP wiring and I dont even see the BM53 plug anymore to connect the extension cable to. I will find an ebay seller who had the BM53 harness with some extra wiring to attempt to gst this all back to stockish wiring.

I ordered a BM53 connector with some wiring an eBay seller was nice enough to sell me. The BM53 part number matches the one I took out of my X5. I really hope I can get this back to stock somewhat so the unit I purchased can once again be "plug and play". Right now it's alot of "play"

Good luck. It's always sad when audio installers hack up a harness. I mean, when I was young I did some not-so-pro looking stuff. But I at least left the factory harnesses in place.
