E53 and quickjack.

Hello,
I’m thinking to get a QuickJack lift, I wonder if anyone uses one, if so which model and how do you like it?
Thanks.

Overboost uses one. He's been pleased with it I believe with his e53 and e46. I'm sure he'll see this and elaborate.

Good to hear since I just ordered the BL-7000SLX + frame extensions + truck adapter kit. That should cover my E60, E53, E46, and hopefully anything else I work on. I'll post feedback once it arrives and I start the E53 front end rebuild.

I've been kicking around the idea of a midrise portable for a few years, just cant bring myself to drop that much on a tool that's not absolutely mandatory.

I knew I would get useful feedback regarding quickjack. I’ve been on this board for many years but for some reason for the past couple of months I couldn’t log in. Sent an email last week to Admin but hadn’t heard back so today I created a new account (it was quicker). The model I can get a good deal on is the BL-7000 SLX. However, according to the specs, the maximum spread for the lifting block positions is 60 inches and the E53 lifting points are approx 64 inches. So I am thinking i can use a 65 inch long 4x4 to extend the space between them. I would also like to use it for my E34, E39 and my F150.
Thanks

Check out the info in this thread:

https://xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-forums/...000ext-x5.html

Is the SLX you're looking at used? As noted in the above link, the EXT is better for the E53.

I bought the BL7000 EXT but your choice of the BL7000 SLX with frame extenders should work. The truck adapter kits is definitely the way to go with our X5s as it gets it up another 6" higher. The QuickJack has been a game changer for me in my home garage maintenance.

There has not been any job I have not been able to tackle on my X5 or E46. I have done oil pans, suspension rebuilds and everything in-between but you are still on a creeper though the amount of room under the car is amazing.

Thank you all and especially Overboost for the details you provided. I will go with this quickjack ASAP and first use will be all fluid service on my E53 3.0, front and rear differentials, transfer case and auto transmission fluid change. Looking forward to having the extra clearance. Thanks again - really appreciate it.
BTW Overboost, the undercarriage of your vehicles look amazingly clean.

That is one of the advantages of having the QJ. You have the room underneath to fix any and all leaks and the ability to clean things.

Your fluid change will be a snap once in the air. In a half a day, you can have all those fluids changed properly.

If you have X Drive, don't forget to reset the clutch adaptations on the transfer case after you change the oil. Use TF 0870 oil.

I'll offer a different take:

Nothing against QJ and I considered it myself. However, if you've got some garage headroom, a two post will be functionally preferable. You need more like 11' headroom, some room on either side of the bay, and have be willing to live with the posts' footprint. QJ is appealing in the absence of any of those.
