Heated Seat issue in OC3 2006 car with OC2 sport seats
i used PASoft to disable te OC3 SRS seat matt and that made my airbag light go away but now unfortunately my heated seats to NOT work unless someone is actually sitting in the passenger seat. its so weird, press heated seat button and nothing. use your hand to press down on the passenger seat and then the heated seats work for a little bit but then shut off eventually after a few min. if i have someone sit with me, the heated seats work the whole time no problem and never shut off. i tried unplugging the OC2 seat occupancy sensor plug as well and that didnt work. im trying to figure out what i can do now. should i get the OC3 Airbag bypass emulator? or the OC2 one? the OC3 one looks like it actually plugs into the yellow seat harness plug for the seats where as the OC2 one looks like it just plugs into the 2 prong receptacle on the OC2 module under the seat. |

Maybe you need to jumper at the plug to create a closed circuit. Do you have a wiring diagram?

Currently the oc2 seat mat is plugged into the oc2 sensor box under the seat and that sensor box is plugged into the factory seat harness going into the floor like factory. I tried unplugging the seat mat and taking a spare mat I had and hacking off the plug and twisting the wire together to complete the circuit but it didn't work so clearly it's a tad more advanced than a simple open/closed unfortunately lol. It's getting cold now and when my wife tries to car she would like for the heated seats to work when she doesn't have a passenger so I need to figure out this issue finally. I guess I should just go ahead and order the OC2 E46/e53/E39 seat occupancy sensor bypass as well as the OC3 bypass which is like a $50 and see which one works. When I look at the OC3 bypass the plug doesn't even look like it will even work in my car I wish I still had my comfort seat so I could look at it and see what the plug looked like there. |

So I figured I would post an update I figured out the issue.
So I finally figured out after 2 years why my heated seats did not work unless I had a passenger in the car. Originally my X5 is a late model 06 so It had the fancy comfort seats with the adjustable headrests and they changed the SRS system from OC2 to OC3... E46s and older e53s and e39s are all OC2... It means they have a separate occupancy sensor in the passenger seat and then a plug-in module that goes underneath the seat and that module plugs into the main seat harness connector... With the OC3 system the seat mat and that module are built together inside the seat so there's no separate module that you can unplug. The plug coming from that seat mat is the same four-pin plug so it still plugged into my main seat harness. Well in my case the Alcantara sports seats that I put into the X5 had the older OC2 seat mat and module and it still plugged into the main seat harness... I left it plugged in and I just coded out the airbag light.. So even though the airbag light was off the fact that that module was still plugged in was causing an issue... It was disabling my entire K-Bus system unless somebody sat in the seat lol... So I heated seats did not work nor did my memory seats for the driver seat work unless somebody sat in the passenger seat. All I had to do was remove that OC2 module from underneath the seat so I wasn't plugged in and voila problem resolved heated seats work no problem memory module works no problem nobody has to sit in the passenger seat. Here's a picture of the OC2 occupancy sensor module that sits underneath a sport seat. I guess having that plugged in was causing the k bus system in the car to go on the Fritz it did not like that. Simply removing it solve the issue. ![]() Sent from my Pixel 4 XL using Tapatalk |
