E53 2004 BMW X5 4.4i starting problems

Hello, I have an e53 2004 X5 4.4i and I’m having an issue with the car starting and continuing to run. The car will start up when it is cold and run until it gets hot, then it shuts down when it gets hot. I key maybe a noise from the stater like it is getting ready to crank then nothing. Once the car cools down it will start again. Can someone give me any direction on what’s wrong. I just got this car from someone.
