Driver side intermittent low beam.
Hello everyone. I had another thread where I had no driver side low at all. After replacing the ballast the low beam now works. However it will only say light for about ten seconds and then die. If I turn the lights off abs then on again the same thing happens. Any ideas? I tried the search function but no luck. TIA

Did you change only the ballast? If the load from the bulb is out of range it will shut down. I would swap the lamps and see what happens. (Problem swap sides?)

Yes I changed only the ballast. If the load is too much for the bulb will a new bulb solve the issue?

That's the idea yes, but you can confirm by swapping lamp from the other side.
Hid lamps should always be replaced in pairs so if you swap and it lights, save that one as a spare and get two new lamps. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Ok cool I have a new set I will try tonight. One note I will add is last night the light went out and then tried to come back on. It flicked a few times and then that was it, it was off

Andrew you’re the best man. Thank you. I put in a new pair of HID bulbs and so far no issues. The left stayed lit for a 20 minute drive last night. It was unbelievable how dim the old bulbs had become because when I put the new ones in it was like night and day. Thanks again

Hid lamps operate with a constant power or constant current function.
As the lamp wears it will take too much voltage to supply the current desired or the current will get too high to supply the power desired, the ballast will shut off if either voltage or current gets out of bounds. Bulbs get a LOT dimmer before they fail and it's so slow you don't notice: a prime reason why to replace both at once. Usually you'll notice some color shift, that's when to replace them.
