Factory Mic with Android HU?

I'm gathering stuff to install a new Xtrons unit in my 04 E53 and wondering if anyone has successfully used the factory microphone with an aftermarket HU? Reading other threads, it sounds as if an external mic is necessary with Xtrons HU (due to poor quality integrated mic). I was planning to run an external mic up the A pillar and across the roof to position it where the factory mic is, but thought if I could just tap into the factory mic, I wouldn't need to bother and it would be ultra-clean.

from doing research on the BlueBus bluetooth device, it has been found that the factory mic uses a LOT of software to make the call quality clear and not a good idea to just "Splice" the factory mic device to the aftermarket HU.

I just ran the auxiliary external microphone up into the interior radar movement alarm module. Drilled 3 holes and my calls are crystal clear on the other end.
