Rear suspension reset?

Hi all,

Is it possible to reset the rear suspension on a 2001 4.4is?

I had a flat tyre at the weekend and had to jack it up to change the wheel, but when I've put it back down the the driver side (US Passenger side) is sitting lower.

I've had a look through previous threads on here and on Google but I'm even more confused now.

Can it be done?

With a proper scanner you can confirm what is going on and instruct the car to inflate air springs etc.

That side is called the *right* side.

Check and see if the level sensor arm is out of whack: the front has a bad habit of getting flipped, I've Heard it's possible for the rear to do so as well.

The arm coming from the sensor should be mostly horizontal, at the elbow joint should switch to mostly vertical through the arm that goes to the suspension.

The ball joints on that connecting arm will likely be "made of rust" as mine were and should be fixed and possibly replaced by now. I've seen where the arm was bent like a banana and no longer pushing the sensor arm correctly and that will cause height mismatch.

Compare left vs. right side. Also, open the tailgate with the key in to force suspension leveling without a scanner (of course it has to be operational).

Most likely the rear air bags need to be replaced. They are cheap and not that hard to do. Had mine done. Look on FCP auto for parts.
