Secondary Air Pump system will not complete drive cycle

"Ok, did some more diagnosis. The pump is fine I confirmed with known good one. Check valve work too. I put vacuum on it and I could blow air through.

Not sure what that means. Testing the pump would mean put it on a different car and have it pass SAP monitor.

What I don't get is why no code. If it can't blow enough air to set the monitor it should set a code.

Welp. It’s fixed. And I have a hunch.

The shop that “fixed it” the last two times took it in one last time to try. I was reluctant because the last time I got it back from them it was 5qts of oil low. Yikes.

Anyway…they said they just “looked at” something’s and now it passed. I call shenanigans.

I had been calling out the vac hose to the check valve as the culprit for a while and asked them to check that at the rear of the motor for cracking. I think they forgot to hook it back up or found cracks and replaced it.

All is well now.

I always try to come back with the results of threads. No one likes to find a thread on google with their EXACT issue and have it die right before the fix was posted.

I know in this case it really wasnt officially solved, but at least i know i went through the whole system correctly and the shop made mistakes, not me.

I am now an SAP master. Bring it on.
