E53 - Rear Door Seal - suggestions?

Hi,

My rear doors are leaking through the seal along the bottom/edge of the footwell. I replaced the ones on the bottom of the door, but after looking at the genuine ones for the body (#51727025580) they are pricey here in Australia......does anyone have an alternative/aftermarket solution as rubber seals are quite common. I haven't been able to find any profiles that could match.

Thanks
Michael

Are you sure it's the door seal? More likely membrane (vapour barrier) on the door is leaking.

x2.

This is the much more likely scenario vs the door seal. Water fills up in the door (especially if the drain holes are clogged) during rain events and overflows the door between the vapor barrier and allows water into the door card. Which then fills up the floor board.

Thanks, I will take the interior panel/card off and check the barrier. The only reason I was thinking it was the seal is that I have taken the bottom plugs out and the inside of the door seems dry. I have seen water run down the C pillar/edge of the door and can see it pooling on the plastic edge and spilling over the rubber.

I agree the odds of getting water coming UP from the lower door seal is not very likely.

I've been driving around with the passenger side lower door seal off completely in snow/rain/slush for a few weeks now and there's no water coming in.

Thanks - will look - where is the most likely path of water? Anywhere the barrier is torn or is not flush/sealed against the door? It is flowing in, so hopefully can see it (about an inch of water in the car yesterday in the rear footwell.
