E53 Aux Input and Using NCS Expert

I have posted something on this elsewhere but figured I'd start a thread with a specific question on it.

Anyone know if there is a specific VIN where the E53 Business CD did NOT have the hardware support for an AUX input?

I have a 2002 E53 with the Business CD. I bought the Aux cable (off Amazon) and installed it. When I push the Mode button on my stock BMW HU, it only flips to the CD player.

So, I downloaded and installed NCS Expert, learned a bit of German along the way, and I have been trying to code the Aux function into my Bus CD unit. I connected to the RAD module fine, was able to download the module, modify it in NCS Dummy, but when I upload it back, I get the error depicted below - Encoding Incorrect COAPI-2060 error.

So this raises some questions for any NCS_Expert experts out there.

1. Is that an error generated if the option simply is not available in the hardware of the module (in my case the Business CD HU)?
2. Am I possibly uploading the wrong file back (FSW_PSW.MAN)?
3. Is something wrong with how I am making the change to turn on the AUX funtion?
4. Am I messing with the wrong module/ECU?
5. Am I maybe selecting the wrong ECU type (there are 3 from which to choose for an E53 in NCS Expert EWS, KMB, or KBMI - I am selecting the first one - EWS since when I pick that one I see the correct VIN for the car displayed). I have tried other ECU selections and received the same COAPI-2060 error.

I am postulating that maybe it is failing because the AUX option simply is not in the hardware of the BMW HU I have, but that seems hard to believe really.

My NCS Expert setup seems ok, as best I can tell - I have the COM port settings on my laptop set correctly, it is reading files properly, and I think I am able to write other changes with no problem.

Images below show the error I am getting, the options for the ECU types, and the Aux option as displayed in NCS Dummy.

Appreciate any assistance anyone can offer.

Just because it shows up as a coding option doesn't mean that it actually is an option. Like you said, I think you need to have the proper S/N of CD player for it to work.

Business CD Aux started in 2003 Production year. You need the proper hardware before software.

OK - THAT explains my issue perfectly then! Whew! Thought I was doing something wrong with NCSexpert. Thanks for the info!
