MIL came on today (check engine)

Got a P0340 code in the X today- cam sensor bank one. Light was on, then drove 250 miles, went off. 2 questions:

Which side is bank one?

Was this a warning that I should replace, or was it an isolated incident that I shouldn't worry about?

Thanks!

He's going on vacation, but PM Rob_ about it, I'm pretty sure he;s familiar with the situation and can tell you what you want to know.

Had the same problem last week... followed the DIY article on cam sensor, replaced the sensor on the exhaust side and everything seems to be working well. Engine idling was rough prior to the replacement and car runs a lot better now.

This sensor has a little ball inside and rolling around? What mileage needs a replacement, does anyone know?

Drex- thanks- I read the article on the 3.0- one question remains- what bank is bank one? The 4.4 according to the ETK has a cam semsor on both sides- which is bank one- left or right?

Thanks

Dave

Shows what I know... I didn't even know there were sides on the inline-six.

Jeremy- not to be smart, but look at my sig- I have a 4.4, and the X5world article relates to a 3.0, hence my question which still remains-which bank on a 4.4 is bank one?
