POLL: V8 Owners - Would you opt for a manual tranny if offered?

As I was driving my 4.4 in manual mode last evening, I was thinking, geez, it sure would be nice to be rowing a real 6spd manual tranny right now - I wish it was offered....

So I thought I'd ask the other V8 owners - would you have gone for a manual tranny if it was offered? How about SMG or SSG? Or..., would you have chosen the steptronic that you have now?

SMG: 1 paddle for up, the other for down
SSG: both paddles can shift up or down

I'm guessing the market just isn't there for this type of vehicle, especially in the U.S., but it sure would be nice to have the option...

Thanks for participating in my little poll!...

I like the tranny that is offered. My friend has the 3.0 with the 5spd which is nice but when I drive the X I like not having to worry about the gears. That's why you have two vehicles, one stick one auto.

No manual tranny for me. I live and drive striclty in the city with way too much stop & go traffic. SMG is fine.

Speaking of manual transmissions, can the 5spd/6spd for the 3.0i tow the 6000 lbs that the auto can?

I have other cars with manual shifts, plus an SMG, but I'd stick with the current auto which suits the the character of the V8 very well as it is (when it works - sorry LVR).

Wow - interesting. Lots of votes for SMG but none for SSG? Between the two, I'd prefer SSG so that I could shift up or down with either paddle - I think that would be helpful as it wouldn't matter if the wheel was turned - no looking or fumbling to make sure you're hitting the right one.

For those of you who chose SMG, I'm curious, why SMG over SSG? I feel like I'm missing something...???
