Pano roof drone noise

Nice weather is finally here. The X5 was driven about 50 miles for suspension work. On the way back, I opened the pano roof wide open. Wow, drone noise was high at 70-75 MPH. Is there a way to reduce it? The front deflector was fully extended. Due to the noise, instead the roof was closed and vent open.

With warm weather, the wify will also open it driving home.

This! This is an issue i keep forgetting to address because i so rarely drive with the pano-roof open. And when i eventually do, i quickly close it again because of that excruciating drone noise accompanied by a wildly pulsating airflow that makes you wonder if your windows will pop out before your eardrums cave in or vice versa.

I'm also very curious if anyone has found a fix/solution to this, or if it simply is not meant to be opened when driving faster than your average walking speed.

Did you have the windows open as well?

All the door windows were closed at 70-75 MPH. Next time, I'll try different open window combos. Plus different pano roof openings. Or slightly opened windows to reduce drone noise. The pulsating air does get bad at highway speeds. At normal 45 MPH city speed limits, it's barely noticeable.

When driving with the pano roof open (or front windows) crack the rear windows a few inches to vastly improve, if not eliminate the drone and buffeting caused by the wind pressure having nowhere to go.

This is the reason and the solution. Cracking open a side window helps drastically.
