Issue with Bluebus: Hangs up the LCM.

This afternoon my son was about to leave with the e53 but returned because the hazards were on without having been activated. A couple of months ago my wife came home and the parking lights remained on despite the light switch being off. Both times I had to disconnect the Bluebus, lock the car, then unlock. At that point things went back to normal but I have not yet reconnected the BB as my son had to leave.

Anyone else experienced problems with the BB? These seem to be random items affecting the LCM that go away after disconnecting the BB and re-initializing the car. Given that this is the second time it happened I am starting to get concerned. The BlueBus is nice for its ability to provide triple flash on the indicators, my kids use the Bluetooth to stream audio but I don't like these random issues despite being infrequent.

I have yet to update the firmware on the BB, so might do that first before making up my mind on it's future. Not sure which website to find the firmware but perhaps the original thread announcing the BB has a link.

Definitely update the firmware first.

Did you shoot me an email about this? [email protected]

I'd like to know what lighting features you're using (one touch blinkers, parking lights, etc).

Most recently, I resolved and issue that caused some LCMs to hang when the car was unlocked, which prevented the DWA features from working (blinkers on unlock).

There have been some issues with comfort features but most have been resolved by now. At its core, the BlueBus won't mess with any systems outside the MID or Navi, but once comfort features come into play I am issuing diagnostic commands to the ZKE and LCM/LSZ which depending on their own software could possibly cause issues.

All that is to say that the comfort features generally work, but there's always the potential for them to impact things generally outside of the scope of the BlueBus. I'm pretty good at squashing bugs like this, and is another reason why the BlueBus is intended to receive software updates.

Thanks!
-Ted

I use the one touch indicator option. Great feature to have on our packed roads around here. Not had any issue since the S/W update but then, the two occasions where it did hang the LCM were quite far apart in time. Time will tell I guess.
