Does anyone know what this plug is for? Folding mirrors?

Isn't that the one for the little LED in the door handle?

No. The LED has it's own separate circ. Every E53 gets the door handle LED regardless if the door handle has the fiber optic or not.

I'm trying to look up the little connector trio there. One of the black connectors (3 pin with only 2 occupied) is for the window "jamming protection" circuit.

Tweeter speaker wiring

Okay, found it!

Notice the tightly wound, wiring. It is not exclusive, but, speaker wiring on BMWs normally are like this. This "blue" connector is for the tweeter.

Some fine detective work there, RocketyMan!

So are you saying that I don't have a tweeter in my door? I thought all trim levels had tweeters in the corners of the front doors. I'll have to put some music on and have a closer listen.

Yup! You're welcome!

So to answer you next question, you need to look up your car to determine if it is the "HiFi louderspeaker" or "Top HiFi professional" sound system.

This would be either P676 OR P677 for your option codes.

Here you go, diagrams for an European 02 3.0i. Looks like base audio did not come with a tweeter, even though the trims might indicate otherwise. I could not find a separate part number for a door trim that did not have a tweeter grille. Another verification according to the diagrams would be to check your rear doors. Hi fi and DSP systems have 2 speakers per door while base audio only has the 1.
