Transmission Slipping 4.4i 2003
I have an issue with my 2003 4.4i. It seems the transmission slips in around 3rd gear when I press the gas, especially noticeable when I am going uphill on a mild incline. I have to press the gas so the car will downshift to stop the slipping. The car has about 150K miles and the transmission was rebuilt about 90K miles ago. Does this sound like I am going to need to replace or rebuild? If so, what is the most cost effective solution these days? I am located in the Los Angeles area if anyone has a recommendation. Thanks! |

A common cause for slippage is low fluid levels. Check it or have it checked. Next, use an advanced scanner for transmission codes.

Thanks! I will look into the fluids. I have a c110 scanner which I imagine wont give me the codes you are talking about. Do you know a scanner I could buy to get the transmission codes?
