The little 3.0 that could

So the past few weeks I’ve been using my 04 190k mile 3.0 X5 to tow my Lotus Elise 450 mile round trip back and forth to the tail of the dragon. I know what you’re thinking, “it weighs nothing” and you’re right! The catch is this tow requires driving up and down the blue ridge mountains and also involved a little friendly competition with my buddy in his 3500 turbo diesel towing his ACR viper. Not only did the E53 get better mpg (14.7 vs 11) I also was able to overtake the diesel going up the mountains. In all honesty we were both very shocked and probably think his motor is unhealthy in some way (both vehicles have the same mileage) but just wanted to share the info. I’m quite proud of our little SAV.

Also we were rather amused how well it handled on the Dragon
