Replacing stuck thermostat - should I replace waterpump?

Thermostat is stuck open on my '05 3.0i. Haven't been having any issues with the waterpump but wondered if it is recommended to change it as well as a maintenance move? Wasn't sure how robust the pumps are in the long term...?

They often get replaced as a pair especially if the mileage is up there and if you don't know the history.

The water pumps are wear items.

For me, any pump with over 50k miles gets replaced. I replaced the thermostat recently on mine. However, the previous owner had recently replaced it. I'm debating the same issue. I'm ready for a coolant system refresh. 1-2 or more parts to order. CCV, coolant, sensors, and anything I can get done under the intake.

Would you go stock? Or upgrade to a Stewart pump? Metal impeller and better flow for summer cooling.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I will grab a waterpump as well since there's a good chance the original is still in there.

@X5chemist, you mentioned sensors... What sensors would you be replacing as part of a coolant system refresh?

The intake cam wiring and pigtail are under the intake. It can be reached without removing the intake though. The head coolant sensor is between cylinders 5/6. It's under the intake. The lower radiator hose also has a fan activation switch. It's inserted. So with an empty coolant line, it's a good time to replace it too. Only an o-ring holds in place for a leak to happen. A new o ring will also work there.
