Keeping upper bootlid raised and secured whilst lugging around oversize items
My old trick of opening upper tailgate then using the key on the latch to gently nudge it up and shut (so have a loop now where i can thread through rope to tie down it down to the 2 anchor point in the boot ain't gonna cut it anymore....)

I think your old method will still work - just don't forget to open the latch again before closing the trunk lid.
![]() AND... be careful to have some windows open a little when driving with the trunk lid open or the inside/outside pressure differential can suck exhaust fumes into the car.

some elastic bands with rubber hooks, attach to rear windshield wiper and wrap around load or the locking brackets.

Thanks for reply, yup did sort of cross my mind but tad worried at how safe a support the wiper is as such...all that would have been needed were two load brackets as you call em, to be fitted on each corner nearest to you inside the upper tailgate corners ....anyway i'll find a way
