Brand new door carrier doesn't when it's freezing outside (with video)

Hi guys,

I replaced my front-left door carrier a few weeks ago after it had broken when it was frozen shut and I tried opening it with too much force (I presume). I purchased the new OEM replacement part from the dealer, no cheap aftermarket or secondhand parts.

So today it was freezing again in the morning and when i tried to open the door, it was frozen shut again. I got in the car through the passenger side and it started working again after it got a big warmer outside.

I already know the barrier has to seal properly, but I've already sealed it up best I can with duct tape. Perhaps this is the issue still, is it possible to buy a completely new barrier from the dealer? Would that solve my issue?

Here's a video of what it looked like this morning: https://youtube.com/shorts/ptiw3GHKsok

Also, the last time this happened it felt a lot more like something else is not in the right spot inside the carrier mechanism. With the previous (broken) carrier, it started pushing on the glass/window and barely moved at all. According to the video, does anyone recognize it as something they experienced?

Thanks!

Very common problem and it is a design flaw. Do some searching here and on the web and you will find lot's of solutions. But, often if you get a rain and than a quick freeze, nothing can be done to stop it. Many times I have had to get a heat gun/torch out to melt the ice

If you lube everything with a product called Viscotene, or something similar, I can only vouch for Viscotene and have been using it for 35 years, nothing lubed with it will freeze.
