Another window regulator question

Hi,

My next issue to fix is my left front window regulator. The window is currently stuck closed so my questions are...

Can I remove the old regulator (or lower the window) without damaging anything or will I need to cut the cable?

Are the repair kits worth buying or should I get the complete regulator.

EDIT: Managed to move the glass with a bit of force. One bottom clip is a bit loose so will replace that and give the channels a bit of lubrication. Hopefully that will be enough.

I buy aftermarket regulators from Rockauto/amazon/ebay

Personally I wouldn't bother with a repair kit. The remaining plastic is old and brittle anyway, you'd be further ahead with a new unit even if it's cheap aftermarket.

The regulators are easy to replace. You can easily move the glass up and down when you remove the motor.
