Another no sound after fitting Android headunit post
I connected up an Android headunit last week, along with the 6m cable, all in the back of the car for testing. It powers on fine, but I don't get any sound. The stock large Nav screen headunit is still fitted for the time being, and the screen comes on but no orange light. I emailed the seller, who said I need to cut and connect the blue (auto ant) wire to the red power cable. I did this, but no joy. I suspect the DSP amp isn't coming on, but I'm not sure how I visually tell if it's on or not. I don't know if unplugging the stock headunit might help? I will try that tomorrow, but any other ideas? I've got some photos, I'll attach them when I'm on my computer. |

If you have DSP then you need the Resler USB and iBus app to activate the DSP amp (power it on).

Thanks. I've purchased the Resler IBUS USB Module (orange) and Android app, but now need to wire it in.
There are 4 cables coming from the Resler USB. 1 isn't used (green), and the others are +12V, earth and iBus. I'm pretty certain I've found the earth (brown) and iBus (grey/white with yellow dots) on the blue X18801 connector below, but not the +12V. Any ideas which one I can get a live feed off?

Red/white (red/green on pre 3/2002 models) is continuous voltage (terminal 30).

Sorry for not understanding, but does that provide power even with no key in? If so, is there a chance that would drain the battery?
I can't figure out that diagram on the link you posted

Terminal 30 = continuous voltage = battery voltage regardless of ignition switch position. On board monitor doesn't have switched voltage supply. It's woken up by bus traffic. Not sure how your device behaves. If you wan't switched voltage there are plenty of options on the front fuse board.

Yes, I had seen that they don't recommend connecting to the X18801, but I emailed them and there doesn't seem to be another way to connect. I bought a generic Android headunit, because I'm probably selling the car later this year. There isn't a way to connect the iBus USB modules 3 wires to my headunit directly or with an adapter.
It's working so far at the moment. The iBus app picks up the information and displays it on screen, and more importantly it powers on the DSP amp so I now have sound, woohoo. I now need to find a way, or launcher, of showing my album art when I stream music over bluetooth from my mobile to the headunit. |
